Pay full price for shoes that work, or wait for a sale?

ok so my current trainers are toast and my feet already know exactly which pair I want next, but they never go on sale and a new colorway just dropped at full price. Buy now and run happy or gamble on my size selling out for basically no discount? #running #gear

  1. buy the shoes, your feet are the budget

if your current pair is toast and you know this is the one, that's not a splurge, that's function. i learned this with heels that never restocked my size, waited for a sale that never came and missed them completely. running shoes that fit right and keep you from getting hurt are worth full price every time. also worth saying, i never even found a replacement i liked as much. sale or not, some pairs just don't come back around.

  2. Buy the shoes, feet don't wait

I did the wait-for-a-sale thing with a pair of work boots once, saved maybe $20, and by the time they finally marked down my size was gone and I limped through a whole deck build in busted soles. If your feet already know it's the right pair, that's not really a want, that's maintenance. Full price now beats a foot problem later, good luck.

  4. Buy the shoes now

You already told me they rarely discount, so the sale you're waiting on may not even exist, meanwhile the risk of losing your size is real and immediate. I'd rather pay full price for a pair that fits than save $15 and end up buying a backup pair I don't actually like. Your feet are the ones doing the math here, not your wallet.

  1. If they rarely discount and your size is already tight, what's the actual price gap you're weighing against risking a sold-out size?

  2. honestly with the heels it was like a $30 difference i was chasing, and i still think about them years later. running shoes are worse to gamble on bc your feet won't wait for a restock.

  3. How much would sale price actually save you, and does your size usually stick around?

  4. waited on a pair of runners for a %30 off promo once, size sold out in a week and i ended up paying full price plus shipping for the next batch anyway. if your feet already know the pair, just cop it now idk

  5. Same story as marcusd33 there, chasing a discount usually just costs you more in the end when the size disappears. I'd rather eat the full price now than order the wrong fit later out of desperation.

  6. Did this with a pair of hiking boots, waited for 20% off, size vanished, ended up paying full price for a different model that never fit as well. Feet aren't the place to save $20, fwiw.
